Tenosique: Cowboys, culture and almost in Guatemala!

Here we go, another trip to tell. Lukas and his girlfriend Julia actually wanted to plan a trip to Belize and a few of our house wanted to join him. So we “ordered” Ferdinando to our house to give us some advice for the trip. He came with Ovidio and so we started the discussion. In the end the outcome was that we will not go to Belize but to a place called Tenosique in the province Tabasco, where the parents of Ovidio are living.

Roadtrip!

There we are: Tabasco, the province where Tenosique is located!
It was a 6-8 hour trip (depending on how often you stop for food and stuff – we needed 8 hours :-D).
The ride there was a little bit exhausting for all of us, because the girls went out until 4 in the morning, when we started. And also our drivers Ferdi and Ovidio had work until latenight. So in the middle of the distance I changed the passenger’s seat with Ferdi because he was too tired to drive further. That was the first time I drove a longer distance in Mexiko. And it was really annoying. Mexicans do have these speed bumps which usually are there, to force you to slow you down – if you see them of course. And well, since the signs of precaution are sometimes hard to see, I woke all the people in the car up, because I didn’t step on the break properly :-D the car didn’t take any damage, so don’t worry! But I will just show you some pictures again, and tell you maybe the story during a personal conversation :-) When I am back in Austria or wherever we will meet.

At the moment I have also a lot of studies to do (or lets better say, I am supposed to do them :-)), so it’s hard to find time to keep the blog up to date! Actually the trip to tabasco was now two months ago. Somehow impossible how fast the time goes here! Also more than half of the time here is over and quite often I am looking forward to meet all my friends back in Austria! Hope you do so as well! And now just enjoy some impressions of another Mexican province :-)

Since we knew, that Ovidio has a ranch, we had to visit it! Also you have to know, that there is a lot of cheese factories in Tenosique. They are quite famous for there cows and cheese!

The farmer taking care of the ranch and the cow.

Machete!

Trying to "repair" the horse which Betti broke :-D

And it worked! :-)

Finally some mountains (actually just some hills compared to Austria)

We went to a restaurant: lobster was just the recommendation of the day, but not on the menu. Afterwards some of us were quite surprised by the price of 500 pesos (30 euros)! But anyway, the food was very good :-)

So many impressions, I almost forgot, that we also have been to nice Mayan ruins, and we were just by ourselves! Such an amazing feeling to be there with nobody else! Very mystic!

Quite amazing, no one there!

Another cultural adventure! Ovidios uncle got us a very cultural experience!
Getting dressed. (Unfortunately) there were no clothes for Lukas and me, so we couldn't participate properly, but anyway we did during the dance :-)

Also with some kind of humor! ;-D

Click here to get an impression of a short video from the cultural dance :-)

After the drunk Mexican forced me to dance :-D

Group picture in the end - it was amazing!

Afterwards we wanted to visit Guatemala because it is very close from Tenosique. But at the border we realized, that we had to pay in order to get to Guatemala and again to get back. No one of us knew, so hardly anyone took some money. So we just took a picture from the entrance :-) Lukas and Julia left us there, because they planned the trip also with going to Guatemala.

We did it! .. Almost :-( I would have liked the stamp I guess!
